MONCHENGLADBACH – A German-Dutch consortium is working on an industrial solution for the mechanical recycling of old clothes made from mixed fibres into new yarns and fabrics, primarily for use in the automotive industry.

The consortium consists of engineering company Imat-uve, cradle to cradle consultants C2C ExpoLab, recycling specialists FBBasic, textile recyclers Stichting Texperium and textiles machinery manufacturer Trützschler.

The project is supported by the European Union (EU) through the INTERREG Germany-Netherlands programme and co-financed by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economic Affairs (MWIDE NRW), the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK), and the provinces of Limburg and Overijssel.
